River City Presents Scholarship
Terri Thompson, president of the River City Council presented a $1,000 scholarship to St. Johns River State College. The scholarship will be designated for use by a graduate of the PACE center for girls of Clay County. PACE began in Jacksonville in 1965 and is geared as an alternative to incarceration for girls. The organization now has 21 centers throughout Florida.

Small Projects Produce Big Results
Sometimes the projects that involve the least time and money can produce the biggest results. The Treasure Coast Council recently provided postage stamps so the 2nd graders at FK Sweet Magnet School in Fort Pierce could send Christmas cards to recovering soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Once again the Broward Council provided Christmas gifts to more than 150 children in the foster care system. The council has been working with ChildNet every Christmas for more than two decades. AT&T Employees throughout the county purchase the gifts which are then picked up, sorted and delivered to ChildNet for the children.
Incoming Presidents Help Family Renew
During the recent training for incoming Florida Chapter Presidents, Pioneers took time out to sort, pack and distribute housewares, Christmas decorations and other supplies for Family Renew. The organization helps homeless families get back on their feet by providing a place to live for at least six months. The donations help each family with all of the supplies they need to set up a new household.
Broward Join United Way Day of Caring
The Broward Council joined 500 volunteers to help make more than 300,000 meals for Broward County area food banks. The volunteers managed to create all those meals in a little over four hours.
Fishing Tournament Project Honors Bill Pazel
AT&T Florida Pioneers Chapter 39 recently honored the memory of the late Bill Pazel by volunteering at the Make a Difference Fishing Tournament in Clearwater Beach.
